It has been reported that Apple is considering  introducing a watch with a very rugged build similar to that of the G-shocks to its lineup soon.

Apple already has it's watch ideal for most environments in that it can be dipped in water up to 50m without damage, its strong metal build and crystal/gorilla glass auto ensures protection to a reasonable extent on impact with hard objects. 

According to a Bloomberg report, the watch is known by her Apple insiders as the 'Explorer edition'. "it would have same functionality as a standard Apple watch but with extra impact-resistance and protection in the vein of Casio's G-Shock watches" says the report.

Speculations have it that the watch will feature a rubberized exterior unlike the stainless, aluminium and titanium casings currently being offered by available models. 

The explorer edition watch would be best for athletes, hikers, swimmers etc and is expected to be unveiled in September when Apple would usually launch it watches, and if not, 2022 maybe the next period to watch out for it this big unveiling. 

However, a new swim tracking feature is also being worked on at Apple. This would enhance the swim tracking mood ability and current models of the Apple watch, more so the incoming set.
